"Michael, Ilka and their team care and look after our 4 year old Maltese, Squiffy, often for a month at a time, in such a professional and caring manner that we would not think of trusting him to stay with anyone else. Michael is truly the Dog Whisperer of Samui and his wife is extremely knowledgeable with dog care. In the beginning we were worried about leaving Squiffy in a kennel as he had not had much social interaction with other dogs and he is a bit spoilt. Michael slowly allowed Squiffy to interact, walk and romp with the other small dogs at the Dogfather and his social skills improved dramatically. Squiffy now walks with the bigger dogs too. Squiffy always comes back from the Dogfather a lot better behaved and he really seems to enjoy his time there. The Dogfather also offers excellent vet services if your dog needs vaccinations etc. and Michael always replies promptly to my texts and emails to see how Squiffy is doing. The dogs get a lot of walking and playing time and the best thing is that Michael and his team truly love dogs and love spending time with them. We cannot recommend The Dogfather highly enough!

Hello Michael,

can you sent me those commands you thought Sumo. And ; for his food ; did you cook the fish or did you give it to him raw. I have bought fish in Makro and serving it raw to him now (he loves it), but my wife told me, that maybe, I should cook it first. Sumo is great by the way ; he is much more calm then before. You did a great training job. I had the impression he was missing you guys the first few days back. On Tuesday, he is going to the vet to get cut.

we have received your sms. Thanks for that. And sumo is doing great. Completely different dog, since he is back. Much more pleasant, relaxed,...

regards,
Peter Devue

We are two elderly ladies, who having retired to Samui decided to share our lives with a medium size dog. Off we went to the Rescue Centre and saw in the puppy room an 8-10 week old Thai mix pup who weighed 1.4 kilos. Having been assured that when fully grown he would weigh 10-12 kilos we took him home and named him Ziggy. He was very sick, but with the vet’s help we nursed him back to health and when he finally reached 2 kilos we knew he would survive.

Nobody told Ziggy that he was only supposed to be 10-12 kilos, he just kept on growing bigger and stronger - he is now just a year old and weighs 25 kilos!!! Having very little experience of dogs we consulted friends who gave us all sorts of advice about how to train and control Ziggy. Most of the advice was useless, and although we got some things right – particularly about the amount of exercise he would need, and not worrying us for food whilst we were eating, he definitely ruled us and the house. Having had no socialisation with other dogs until the age of 5 months, Ziggy also had not learnt how to behave appropriately with them and his boisterous behaviour could lead him into problems.

In May we heard about the Dogfather, and we immediately contacted Michael, who came to the housetwice, and following his advice we changed many of Ziggy’s routines e.g. eating times, sleeping places, play times etc. Michael also gave us the confidence to deal more positively with this ‘big, strong brute’. Ziggy then spent 3 weeks at the Dogfather kennels for individual training/dog socialisation with Michael, and this improved his behaviour tremendously. Now we have weekly sessions with Michael and we are learning more about being calm and confident leaders of our small pack.

Before we met Michael we were beginning to wonder if we would be able to keep Ziggy. Thank you Michael and the Dogfather kennels – it would have broken our hearts to part with our handsome, intelligent and funny boy. Although Ziggy will probably never be a docile little pooch, we now feel that with Michael’s continued help we will cope, and the 3 of us can look forward to a rewarding life. Thank you again Michael – Samui’s very own dog whisperer.

My name is Magali from Belgium. My partner and me adopted a stray dog that we have found on the beach of Meanam. He was a black puppy that looked very much as a labrador. We named him Dam (means black in Thai). As we were gone on business trips or visa-runs often we wanted the best possible care for our dog. The first time we left our dog at The Dogfathers I was a little nervous, but they treated him with a lot of care and knowledge. The Dogfather sended me emails to say that everything was fine and kept me up to date of Dam's adventures and new friends that he had made at the shelter. That reassured me a lot. After that, Dam always went to stay at Dogfathers when we had to go away. And he loved it! For me it was very important to know that if we were gone that our dog gets the best treatment and of that we were
100 percent sure at Dogfathers. He got the best food, his morning and evening walk, a bath when needed, medical care if needed, he socialised with the other dogs,... and so on... Michael even trained him while we were gone. Michael and Ilka also helped me by training my dog on a good way, that started by training myself. I have learned a lot from Michael and he was always happy to share his knowledge about dogs with me. Michael made me a better pack leader so that my dog became a happier dog. I am very greatfull that I met Ilka and Michael and I will remember their whise words forever.
